Brazil is considering reciprocal measures after the European Union suspended imports of Brazilian beef, poultry, fish, honey, eggs and related products. The bloc says Brazil has not demonstrated adequate controls over antimicrobial use in animal production, including substances prohibited under EU rules. The decision follows the provisional implementation of the EU-Mercosur trade agreement, raising tensions between partners. Brazilian officials are seeking a technical solution, but European representatives insist sanitary standards will not be relaxed, leaving exporters facing uncertainty and losses.
