ILIGAN CITY, PHILIPPINES — Police have launched a manhunt after four armed men pulled off a swift and daring robbery at a local pawnshop in Iligan City, escaping with an undetermined amount of jewelry. The incident occurred late in the afternoon of Tuesday, July 14, 2026 as employees were preparing to close the establishment for the day.

According to initial police reports, the heist was executed with precise timing. The pawnshop workers were in the middle of their closing routines when the four suspects suddenly entered the premises.

Wearing motorcycle helmets to conceal their faces, the suspects immediately drew firearms and threatened the workers, successfully preventing them from raising an alarm. Operating quickly, the armed men ransacked the display cases and grabbed various pieces of jewelry before fleeing the scene aboard two waiting getaway motorcycles, speeding off before local authorities could be alerted.

The Iligan City Police Office (ICPO) responded to the scene shortly after the robbers fled. Investigators are currently reviewing security footage from the pawnshop and neighboring establishments to map out the suspects' escape route and establish their identities.

"Our workers were in the process of closing up when the four individuals entered, drew weapons, and gathered the jewelry before fleeing on two getaway motorcycles," said Major Zandrex Panolong, spokesperson for the ICPO, in a statement. "We are actively investigating the incident and hope to resolve this crime as quickly as possible".

The management of the pawnshop is currently conducting a thorough inventory of their stock to determine the exact cash value of the stolen jewelry.

Local authorities have appealed to the public and nearby business owners to come forward with any dashboard camera footage or information that could help identify the suspects or locate the getaway motorcycles.

In response to the incident and to reassure anxious store owners, the ICPO has announced an immediate increase in police visibility and tactical patrols across key commercial districts in the city. Authorities have advised the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals or unusual motorcycle activity near retail hubs, emphasizing that the suspects should not be approached directly as they are considered armed and dangerous.
