BBC pays compensation to PinkNews couple over false sexual misconduct allegations

The BBC apologized to PinkNews founder Benjamin Cohen and his husband, Anthony James, after admitting allegations in a 2024 documentary and article were false and defamatory. Claims included allegations of misconduct toward junior staff and pressure on women to act as surrogates. In a statement read at the High Court, the BBC retracted the allegations and agreed to pay compensation; the sum was not disclosed. The couple said they will donate the money to charities. The settlement ends the case.
