Baghdad Confirms Attack on Saudi Oil Pipeline Originated in Iraq

Iraq’s government confirmed that a drone attack on Saudi Arabia’s East-West oil pipeline was launched from Iraqi territory. Riyadh shut the pipeline as a precaution and called on Baghdad to take action, but said it would not retaliate. Iraq dismissed the military commander and police chief in Maysan province, where Iran-backed militias operate near the Iranian border, and opened an investigation. The attack has raised concerns about energy supplies, global oil prices and growing regional tensions involving Iran-aligned armed groups
