The comments came as Ottawa pursues an unprecedented associate-membership relationship with the bloc. Canberra is also examining ways to strengthen cooperation on trade, security, energy, technology, and diplomatic coordination. The minister said the two countries were “on the same page,” reflecting shared concerns about economic resilience and strategic uncertainty. Any new arrangements would require negotiations with European institutions and member states.
