Austin Butler has been spotted on set as detective James “Sonny” Crockett while filming Miami Vice ’85, the upcoming reboot of the classic crime series. The production, also starring Michael B. Jordan, recreates the style of 1980s Miami, with crews building period storefronts and adding palm trees to a New Jersey shopping center for filming. Directed by Joseph Kosinski, the film draws inspiration from the original series’ pilot and first season. Butler’s on-set appearance offers an early look at his take on the iconic detective.
