At Least 916 Executed in Iran Since January, Rights Group Says

Iran has carried out at least 916 executions since the start of 2026, including 15 so far in August, according to the Abdorrahman Boroumand Center for Human Rights in Iran. The group said the real number is likely much higher because Iranian authorities do not publish data on many cases. It also criticized trials involving protesters, saying many defendants face charges that carry the death penalty and that the process lacks due process. UN officials have also warned that executions are rising.
