Andy Burnham Says Russia Interfered in Brexit Referendum

Andy Burnham says he was told by officials that Russia interfered in the 2016 Brexit referendum. Speaking on The Rest Is Politics podcast, he said he wanted the finding placed clearly on the public record and warned that foreign disinformation can disrupt democratic debate. Parliament’s Intelligence and Security Committee criticised the government’s failure to fully assess potential Russian activity around the vote in its 2020 report. Its published findings did not establish that Russian efforts changed the referendum’s outcome.
