AMMAN, JORDAN — A long-standing dispute between neighbors in a residential district of Jordan’s capital escalated into a horrific scene of violence, leaving two people dead and three others seriously wounded. The quiet suburban neighborhood was transformed into a crime scene as an argument rapidly deteriorated into an armed confrontation.

The tragic incident has shocked the local community and renewed public concern over the escalation of domestic and neighborhood conflicts into gun violence.

According to preliminary reports from the Public Security Directorate (PSD), the altercation began on a quiet evening following a heated verbal argument between members of two adjacent households. While the exact trigger of the latest dispute remains under investigation, witnesses noted that the families had been embroiled in a series of ongoing disagreements over property boundaries and shared local access roads.

What started as shouting quickly turned catastrophic when individuals from both sides retreated to their homes, emerged with firearms, and opened fire in the middle of the street.

"We heard shouting like usual, but then it just turned into a barrage of gunfire," said one neighbor who hid inside his home during the encounter. "It was terrifying. The shooting didn't stop until people were already on the ground."
