Amman Industrial Chemical Leak: Airborne Vapor Exposure Sends Three Plant Workers To Emergency Care

Amman, Jordan—A chemical line leak inside a processing plant in the Amman Industrial Zone released hazardous fumes today, sending three factory workers to the hospital with acute respiratory distress. Alarm systems sounded across the processing floor, triggering an immediate emergency evacuation of shift personnel. Hazardous materials units arrived shortly after to seal off the manufacturing block.

Civil Defense hazmat teams wearing specialized protective suits entered the building to shut off primary supply valves and contain the airborne chemical spread. Paramedics stabilized the three exposed technicians outside the facility entrance before rushing them to a nearby hospital in Amman. Medical personnel listed all three in stable condition under observation.

Official reporting from the Petra News Agency indicates the leak originated from a high-pressure seal failure along a raw chemical solvent transport line. Technicians were conducting line pressure checks when a compromised valve fitting released pressurized liquid, which rapidly vaporized upon contact with factory air.

"A sharp chemical odor filled the mixing room in seconds," said a plant operator who evacuated through a emergency exit door. "The ventilation alarm went off immediately, and supervisors ordered everyone off the floor."

Civil Defense technicians deployed high-capacity exhaust fans to draw lingering chemical vapors from the sealed building and flush the atmosphere through specialized filters. Environmental inspectors conducted air quality checks around the factory perimeter, confirming no toxic fumes escaped into neighboring industrial facilities.

The incident highlights persistent operational hazards within heavy manufacturing districts across Greater Amman. Industrial trade representatives stressed the necessity of continuous pipe integrity testing, automated cutoff valves, and adequate protective gear for maintenance crews handling volatile solvents.

Ministry of Industry safety inspectors issued a temporary shutdown order for the affected production line pending a full technical review of the plant's pressurization systems. Investigators are analyzing maintenance logs to determine whether mechanical fatigue or improper fitting installation caused the seal breach.

Hazmat crews cleared the factory floor by late afternoon, allowing non-affected administrative sectors to resume limited operations under supervisor monitoring.
