Amazon Reinstates Binding Arbitration, Bars Class-Action Lawsuits

Amazon reinstated binding arbitration for its U.S. customers while also prohibiting class-action lawsuits, according to Reuters. The changes took effect immediately through emails sent to customers, with Amazon saying continued use of its services indicates acceptance. Amazon said arbitration would provide a “fast, cost-effective” way to resolve disputes and still preserve the option of small claims court. Reuters reports that disputes started before Friday are not affected by the new terms.
