Across the Cloud Data Landscape, Snowflake Shares Surge as Artificial Intelligence Demand Lifts Its Outlook

In the expanding architecture of artificial intelligence, much of the attention naturally falls on the models themselves. Yet behind those systems sits another layer: the data infrastructure that stores, organizes and processes the information machines need. For Snowflake, that quieter part of the AI economy became visible again this week as investors responded strongly to its latest results.

Shares of Snowflake surged more than 24% before the market opened on September 3, following the company’s decision to raise its annual product revenue forecast. The move reflected growing investor confidence that artificial intelligence spending is beginning to generate measurable demand for established software and data platforms.

Snowflake raised its fiscal 2027 product revenue forecast to $6.07 billion from its previous projection of $5.84 billion. The company also reported a 37% year-over-year increase in second-quarter product revenue, providing another indication that customers are continuing to spend on its cloud data platform.

Artificial intelligence was central to that acceleration. Chief Executive Officer Sridhar Ramaswamy said AI offerings accounted for approximately half of the acceleration in the company’s growth. The comment suggested that AI was no longer simply an emerging feature around the edges of Snowflake’s business, but increasingly part of the demand flowing through its core platform.

The development reflects a broader shift in the technology industry. Companies adopting artificial intelligence need more than models; they also need access to reliable data, cloud computing, storage, analytics and tools that allow employees and automated systems to work with large collections of information. That creates opportunities for companies positioned underneath the visible AI layer.

Snowflake has built its business around cloud-based data storage and analytics, allowing enterprises to manage information across major cloud environments. As companies experiment with AI applications, the ability to bring data into those systems has become increasingly important, placing data platforms closer to the center of enterprise technology spending.

The latest results therefore offer a different view of the AI boom. While semiconductor companies have benefited directly from demand for computing power, Snowflake’s performance suggests that parts of the software and data infrastructure ecosystem can also participate when businesses move from experimenting with AI toward broader deployment.

The market reaction was correspondingly sharp. Snowflake shares climbed nearly 25% as investors absorbed the stronger forecast and the evidence of accelerating AI-related demand. The move showed how sensitive software valuations have become to indications that companies are willing to spend more on artificial intelligence despite wider concerns about technology competition and economic conditions.

At the same time, the company remains part of a highly competitive technology landscape. Data platforms are increasingly being asked to support AI workloads, while newer AI-native companies are competing for the same corporate budgets. Snowflake’s latest performance therefore does not remove those challenges, but it gives investors another data point about the commercial potential of enterprise AI.

For Snowflake, the immediate story is one of stronger expectations. A higher revenue forecast, faster product growth and greater contribution from AI have brought the company back into focus as one of the software businesses positioned to benefit from the next stage of corporate AI adoption.
