A Roadblock Became the Line Between Pursuit and Escape

Some moments unfold with the sudden force of a storm crossing a quiet road. What begins as a routine operation can quickly transform into a scene of urgency, where decisions are measured in seconds and consequences emerge without warning.

Such a moment occurred in Way Kanan, Lampung, during a police operation targeting individuals suspected of involvement in narcotics trafficking. Officers had positioned themselves to intercept a vehicle believed to be connected to an ongoing investigation.

Police stated that a black Daihatsu Terios became the focus of attention after investigators sought assistance in stopping the vehicle. Officers arranged a barricade near the Baradatu Police Station as part of the interception effort.

According to authorities, the vehicle did not stop when confronted with the blockade. Instead, it allegedly accelerated and struck a police patrol vehicle positioned across the roadway.

The impact pushed the patrol vehicle and reportedly caused Baradatu Police Chief AKP Sunaryo, who was standing nearby, to be thrown approximately one meter. Officials described the incident as one of the most dramatic moments of the operation.

Despite the collision, the occupants of the suspect vehicle managed to flee the immediate scene. However, police later secured the vehicle itself as evidence for further investigation.

The incident emerged from a broader narcotics investigation that had already resulted in arrests and the seizure of suspected methamphetamine. Authorities believe the attempted escape was linked to those ongoing enforcement actions.

Law enforcement officials reiterated their commitment to combating narcotics trafficking and maintaining public security throughout the region.

Investigators continue examining the evidence and searching for individuals connected to the vehicle involved in the collision.
