4 Men Plead Guilty to Arson Attack on Golders Green Ambulance

LONDON — Four men have formally admitted to their roles in a targeted arson attack on an emergency vehicle in Golders Green, following a police investigation into the destruction of a local ambulance.

The defendants entered guilty pleas at Harrow Crown Court on charges related to arson being reckless as to whether life was endangered. The court heard how the individuals coordinated the attack, causing severe damage to the vehicle, which was parked and operational at the time of the incident.

Emergency services were called to the scene in the late-night hours following reports of a vehicle engulfed in flames. Fire crews managed to extinguish the blaze before it spread to adjacent properties, but the ambulance sustained catastrophic structural and mechanical damage, rendering it a total loss. No injuries were reported in connection with the fire.

Investigators from the Metropolitan Police utilized local CCTV footage, witness statements, and forensic evidence recovered from the site to identify and arrest the four suspects in the days following the incident. Prosecutors presented evidence demonstrating that accelerants were deliberately used to ignite the vehicle.

Local community leaders and emergency response officials condemned the attack, highlighting the critical role emergency vehicles play in public safety and the disruption caused to local medical response coverage.

All four men have been remanded in custody and are scheduled to be sentenced at a later date, pending pre-sentence reports. Legal representatives for the defendants indicated that mitigation arguments would be presented during the upcoming sentencing hearing.

In response to the incident, London Ambulance Service officials confirmed that a replacement vehicle has already been deployed to the station to ensure emergency response times in Barnet and the surrounding North London boroughs remain unaffected. Meanwhile, local authorities announced plans to review security protocols for emergency vehicles parked in public bays, including the potential installation of enhanced surveillance cameras and increased night-time police patrols across high-density residential areas.
