Woodlands Joyride Busted: 5 Arrested—Including a 19-Year-Old—for Alleged Motorcycle Theft

SINGAPORE — A late-night impulse turned into a swift police bust after five young men allegedly stole an unattended motorcycle in Woodlands for a joyride. The entire group was tracked down and arrested within 13 hours of the theft being reported.

The suspects, aged between 19 and 24, are set to be charged in court on Monday, June 15, 2026. The incident began in the early hours of Wednesday, June 10, 2026. According to preliminary police investigations, the five men were loitering around an industrial building along Woodlands Close at approximately 2:30 a.m. when they spotted the unattended vehicle.

Seizing the opportunity, the group managed to push-start the motorcycle's engine. Shortly after, one of the men hopped onto the bike and took it for a joyride around the neighborhood.

The motorcycle's owner did not realize the vehicle was missing until Saturday morning, June 13. Upon discovering the empty parking spot, the owner immediately alerted the authorities at around 11:20 a.m. Officers from the Woodlands Police Division were assigned to the case. Through rigorous ground inquiries and a thorough review of closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage around Woodlands Close, officers rapidly established the identities of all five suspects.

By late Saturday night—less than 13 hours after the initial police report was filed—all five men were taken into custody, and the stolen motorcycle was successfully recovered.

The five men face charges of theft of a motor vehicle with common intention under the Penal Code. If convicted, they face a severe penalty of up to seven years in prison alongside a mandatory fine.

The joyride has also brought additional legal trouble for the oldest member of the group. The Singapore Police Force confirmed that the 24-year-old suspect who allegedly rode the vehicle is facing a separate investigation for riding a motorcycle without a valid driving license.

Following the arrests, the police issued a public advisory reminding vehicle owner to secure their property: "The Police would like to advise all motor vehicle owners to park in well-lit areas, install anti-theft alarms, use additional locking devices such as disc brake locks, and always remove the ignition key when leaving a vehicle unattended."
