Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that Pakistan's military operations against the Afghan Taliban would continue unabated as part of Operation "Ghazab-Lil-Haq." Speaking at a military college in Quetta, he stressed the need to eliminate militant sanctuaries based in Afghanistan that pose threats to Pakistan’s security.

This operation follows heightened tensions and direct confrontations along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, where Pakistan's military has reported significant casualties among Taliban fighters, claiming over 700 deaths. Despite previous attempts to negotiate ceasefires and dialogue, the tensions have persisted, with reports of intensified attacks in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Islamabad accuses the Taliban of harboring groups that organize attacks against Pakistan, a claim that the Taliban reject.
