Chaos in Tripoli: Celebratory Fireworks Spark Infernal Blaze, Destroying 4 Apartments

TRIPOLI, Libya — What was meant to be a joyous community celebration turned into a scene of panic and destruction on Sunday afternoon when a fire, sparked by celebratory fireworks, tore through a multi-story residential building in the Al-Dreibi district of Tripoli on Sunday afternoon, July 19, 2026.
