Ukraine says it struck vessels carrying Iran-linked military cargoes in Caspian Sea

Ukraine said its forces struck two Russian vessels in the Caspian Sea that had been sanctioned by the United States for transporting military cargo between Iran and Russia. In a statement, Ukraine’s special operations forces said the attacks targeted the ships Kompozitor Rakhmaninov and Askar-Sarydzha near Russia’s Republic of Kalmykia. Ukraine did not provide details on how the vessels were hit or the extent of damage. Russia has not commented on the claim. The reporting comes amid wider Iran-Russia military cooperation allegations.
