KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — A tragic industrial accident occurred at an offshore oil and gas facility operated by Malaysian state energy giant Petronas, leaving three workers dead and another seriously injured. The incident took place aboard a floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) vessel operating in Malaysian waters, prompting an immediate emergency response and a suspension of localized operations.

The accident unfolded during scheduled maintenance work on the floating vessel. According to initial emergency reports, a sudden equipment failure or localized industrial mishap occurred in one of the utility compartments, impacting a four-member engineering team working in the immediate vicinity.

Onboard emergency response teams were instantly mobilized to secure the area and administer first aid. Tragically, three of the workers sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene by the vessel's medical personnel.
