PRETORIA — A heavily armed gang’s plan to ambush a cash-in-transit (CIT) vehicle was shattered on Monday, June 22, 2026 after a coordinated, high-stakes law enforcement operation intercepted the suspects in Olievenhoutbosch, Centurion. The rapid takedown resulted in the arrest of three suspects and the recovery of high-caliber firearms before the ambush could be executed.

The operation was launched following a strategic breakthrough by a joint task team consisting of the South African Police Service (SAPS) Crime Intelligence, specialized tactical units, and private security partners.

Acting on verified intelligence regarding an imminent CIT robbery targeting an armored vehicle in the Pretoria area, tactical teams deployed aggressively to key transit routes.
