Houthis Warn They’ll Target Tankers Using Saudi Ports in Red Sea

Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthis have threatened to attack tankers that use Saudi Arabian ports as they move through the Red Sea corridor. The warning coincides with shipping disruptions in which several tankers carrying Saudi crude reportedly reversed course, steering away from the Bab al-Mandeb strait and toward the Suez Canal. Maritime reporting says the threat follows the Houthis’ declared maritime embargo and appears aimed at raising costs and uncertainty for Saudi-bound trade. Shipping analysts warn further rerouting could lengthen journeys to Asia and push freight prices higher.
