US, Lebanon, Israel sign framework agreement

The United States said Lebanon and Israel have signed a framework agreement to implement a ceasefire after talks held in Washington. The arrangement is conditional on a complete halt of Hezbollah attacks and the withdrawal of Hezbollah forces from south of the Litani River. It also calls for quick creation of pilot security zones where the Lebanese Armed Forces would have full security control and no non-state armed groups could operate. The framework aims to support Lebanese sovereignty and security, while political and security talks would resume toward a comprehensive deal.
