Ukraine Strikes Russian Missile/Satellite Components Manufacturer and Ufa Refinery, Zelensky Confirms

President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that Ukrainian forces struck two targets in Russia overnight: a “strategic” defense industry facility in the Penza region and an oil refinery in Ufa. He said the strikes were part of Ukraine’s ongoing long-range pressure campaign.

Zelensky stated that the Penza target develops and manufactures components used in missile weapons employed against Ukrainian cities and communities. Ukraine’s General Staff later identified the facility as JSC Research Institute of Physical Measurements (NIIFI), described as a major manufacturer of space, aviation, and military instrumentation. The General Staff said the site is used to build sensors and other components for missiles and military aviation systems, as well as equipment for Russian military satellites, and reported that confirmed hits and smoke were observed, with damage still being assessed.

Zelensky also confirmed a strike on an oil refinery in Ufa, describing it as among Russia’s largest producers of lubricants. He said the refinery is more than 1,300 kilometers from the front line.

Separately, explosions were reported in the Russian-occupied city of Donetsk, though it was not immediately clear what was hit there.
