Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) says it carried out a strike on the Saky military air base in Russian-occupied Crimea, targeting airfield infrastructure—specifically hangars used to store aviation equipment.
In its account, the SBU said its Alpha unit conducted the operation as part of a wider Ukrainian “influence” campaign, reporting multiple confirmed drone hits on hangars at the site. The service stated that Russian fighter jets were inside at the time: Su-30 and Su-30SM aircraft were reported to be located in two hangars.
Following the strike, the SBU said a fire was observed in a hangar where an Su-30SM was believed to be stored, which it described as evidence that the target was hit successfully. The SBU also said it is continuing strikes intended to reduce the combat capability of Russian forces using infrastructure in both the front area and occupied territory.
