GIZA, EGYPT — A devastating road accident has sent shockwaves through a local community after a vehicle carrying an entire family veered off the road and plunged into an irrigation canal west of Cairo. All seven occupants, including four adults and three children, tragically lost their lives in the incident.

The horrific crash occurred along the road leading to the Saqqara archaeological area in the Giza Governorate.

According to Egyptian security sources, the family was traveling near the town of Badrashin when the driver reportedly lost control of the steering wheel. The vehicle swerved violently off the road, overturned, and fell directly into the Marioutiya Canal.

Emergency services were alerted immediately, prompting a rapid and massive response. Civil defense units, police forces, ambulance networks, and river rescue teams all rushed to the site. Upon arrival, responders found the vehicle completely submerged in the waterway, leaving all seven family members trapped inside.

River rescue teams worked urgently to secure the site and pull the vehicle from the canal beds. Tragically, by the time the car was pulled to the surface, all seven occupants were found dead.

The bodies of the victims were recovered from the wreckage and transferred to nearby hospitals for relevant forensic and medical evaluations. Preliminary investigations by authorities have confirmed that a sudden loss of vehicle control was the primary catalyst for the fatal plunge, though technical examinations are still underway to rule out any underlying mechanical failures.
