Tragedy in Rizal: American Citizen Robbed and Shot Dead by Riding-in-Tandem Assailants

TERESA, RIZAL — A 35-year-old American national was shot dead by motorcycle-riding thieves in Barangay San Roque, Teresa, Rizal, after reportedly resisting a roadside holdup.

The brazen twilight attack has triggered a manhunt by local authorities seeking to identify the armed duo behind the fatal robbery.

According to a report released by the Police Regional Office 4-A (PRO-4A), the victim—identified by the law enforcement alias "Ray"—was walking along a roadside in Barangay San Roque around 6:00 PM on Friday, July 10, 2026 when the confrontation took place.

Two suspects riding a black Honda motorcycle pulled up alongside him and declared a holdup. Investigators noted that the victim fought back against the initial robbery attempt, causing the suspects to briefly flee the immediate scene.

However, the reprieve was short-lived. Moments later, the assailants circled back. The passenger dismounted the motorcycle, drew a firearm, and fired twice at close range. The victim sustained fatal gunshot wounds to his head and shoulder and died at the scene.

Following the shooting, the gunman quickly stripped the victim of his personal belongings before climbing back onto the motorcycle. The duo then sped away together into the evening.

According to witness accounts and initial police briefs, the fleeing suspects were identified by their distinct attire during the incident. The driver was spotted wearing a black helmet, a blue raincoat, blue pants, and slippers, while the gunman wore a gray helmet, a black raincoat, gray-and-black pants, and slippers.

The Teresa Municipal Police Station, alongside provincial intelligence units, has launched a comprehensive follow-up operation. Detectives are currently reviewing local closed-circuit television (CCTV) feeds along the suspects' suspected escape route to trace the motorcycle's flight path.

"We are pooling all available resources to identify and track down these perpetrators," a provincial police coordinator stated. "This act of lawlessness will be met with the full force of justice."

Authorities have temporarily withheld further personal data and specific background details regarding the victim out of respect for his family and the sensitivities of the ongoing criminal inquiry. Local officials have urged anyone who may have witnessed suspicious motorcycle activity in Barangay San Roque on Friday evening to step forward and contact local hotlines.
