Taiwan Condemns “Dangerous” Planned Chinese Navy Drill With Indonesia

Taiwan condemned China’s planned mid-August navy drill with an Indonesian warship off the island’s east coast, calling it dangerous and a “military provocation.” Taipei’s Mainland Affairs Council said the exercise is intended to manufacture an appearance that China controls those waters, undermining Taiwan’s sovereignty and maritime rights. China’s defense ministry described the move as a navigation or passage exercise to enhance joint operational capabilities. Indonesia’s navy had not commented.
