A Phoenix-area man embroiled in Arizona’s $12.8 million lottery ticket dispute is speaking publicly for the first time. Robert Gawlitza, a former Circle K store manager, says he followed company policy when he clocked out, bought an unsold winning ticket for $10, signed it, and then returned to work. He was later fired and the company took possession of the ticket, leaving ownership to be fought in court. Gawlitza insists he never intended wrongdoing and only wants his family name restored.
