Investigation Identifies Russian Prison Doctor Accused of Abusing Ukrainian Captives

A joint investigation by Schemes and OCCRP says Ukrainian authorities have issued notices of suspicion naming a Russian prison doctor accused of abusing Ukrainian prisoners. Survivors from Correctional Colony No. 7 (IK-7) in Russia’s Vladimir region reportedly identified the doctor after describing physical and psychological mistreatment, sexual violence, and deliberate denial of medical care. The investigation says the doctor, identified as Vyacheslav Cherdantsev, was allegedly assisted by another inmate, and prosecutors have filed war-crimes-related charges in Ukraine as the case continues.
