Horrific Bridge Crash: Over 40 Injured as Private Bus Collides and Crashes on Hyderabad–Bengaluru Highway

PANYAM, India — Around 40 passengers sustained injuries early on Sunday morning, August 9, 2026 when a private luxury Volvo bus traveling from Hyderabad to Bengaluru collided with an Eicher transport vehicle before crashing violently into the Poguru bridge guardrail along National Highway 44.

The high-impact accident occurred during the early hours, a time when most of the 45 passengers aboard the private sleeper bus were asleep. According to preliminary reports from local law enforcement, the bus was attempting an overtake maneuver near the Poguru river bridge when it clipped the rear of the preceding Eicher truck, causing the bus driver to lose control and slam into the concrete structure of the bridge.

The impact severely crushed the front cabin of the bus, trapping the driver and several front-row passengers within the crumpled metal frame. Local commuters and nearby villagers were the first to arrive, rushing to pull panicked victims through the broken windows before emergency responders reached the scene.
