Europe’s Major Rivers Hit Record Low Water Levels as Drought Worsens

Major rivers across Europe are hitting record low water levels, driven by prolonged heat and drought. Satellite observations show exceptionally low sections of the Loire, Po, Rhine and Danube, with sandbanks and gravel bars exposed where water normally covers them. Authorities warn the situation is worsening, with economic and ecosystem impacts expanding.
