CENTCOM considers relocating US bases from Gulf States to Negev after painful Iran strikes - report

The US is evaluating a major shift in its regional basing and operational posture after Iran’s extensive missile and drone attacks damaged multiple US military sites across the Middle East, the Wall Street Journal reported.

The assessment centers on moving operational systems currently housed in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia farther west to reduce exposure to future Iranian missile and drone strikes. The report says one option under consideration is creating a new US base in Israel’s Negev region or expanding an existing Israeli air force base to host a larger American presence.

The reporting also describes efforts to rebuild or rework damaged infrastructure, including at Bahrain’s naval facility, which has been targeted repeatedly earlier this year.

While the report frames the Negev as a key possible alternative, it also notes that no final decisions have been publicly announced by the US yet.
