Canada Post says it is temporarily suspending deliveries to Ireland and 11 other EU destinations because of new European Union customs requirements for low-value parcels.
In an international service alert updated July 3, 2026, Canada Post states that the EU introduced a new €3 customs duty per item for low-value shipments, on top of import VAT. The EU also added enhanced item-level data and additional compliance requirements. Canada Post says these changes prompted a temporary suspension of parcel acceptance for the affected markets.
The service suspension applies to: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal, and Spain.
Canada Post says it will continue to accept shipments to other EU destinations where Delivered Duties Unpaid (DDU) remains operationally feasible, while it works on compliant solutions for the markets that are temporarily paused. The company also says it will monitor developments and provide updates when available.
