Civil defense volunteers utilized heavy hydraulic jacks and searchlights to secure hanging concrete beams and reach trapped occupants.

Rescuers recovered the lifeless body of an elderly resident from the basement level hours after the initial cave-in. Two other family members trapped on the second-floor landing were extracted alive with moderate fractures and transported to a municipal hospital. Municipal engineers inspected adjacent residential blocks, warning residents of widespread structural compromises across the historic district.
