Baling, Malaysia—The Kedah Fire and Rescue Department has officially identified the individuals killed during a catastrophic three-vehicle collision early Tuesday morning. The wreck occurred at Batu Tujuh along the Jalan Tawar-Kulim road, drawing emergency responders to the site shortly after 6:22 am.
Investigators confirm that twenty-three-year-old Alina Mohd Shapri was one of the two fatalities. She was operating a Perodua Myvi when the crash occurred, reportedly on her way to work in Kulim.
A second victim, an adult male found inside a Proton Saga, was also pronounced dead at the scene by responding health personnel. Firefighters worked to extricate his body from the wreckage while onlookers provided initial assistance to the female victim.
Local authorities have since provided clarity on the sequence of events. The Perodua Myvi and a commercial bus were traveling toward Kulim when the collision occurred. A Proton Saga, carrying two men, was moving in the opposite direction.
Baling district police chief Superintendent Brandon Richard Joe stated that investigations into the circumstances of the crash are active. The force is currently reviewing the involvement of the third vehicle, the bus, to determine fault.
The driver of the Proton Saga sustained severe injuries during the impact. Medical responders transported him to a nearby hospital for emergency care shortly after they arrived at the scene.
Teams from the Baling Fire and Rescue Station navigated the twenty-four-kilometer distance to reach the site of the wreckage. Their arrival marked the beginning of a grim scene involving the mangled remains of three separate vehicles on the narrow highway.
Police are processing the incident under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Official reports from the department remain the primary source of information as the investigation proceeds.
