Kyiv’s top military administrator said at least 11 people were killed after a second night of Russian strikes on the Ukrainian capital in the span of a week, following earlier attacks that had already caused heavy casualties.
The city reported that around 46 people were injured, including five children. Another three people were reported killed in the wider Kyiv region. Rescue teams were continuing operations at more than 20 locations, and officials said residential high-rise buildings were hit in two districts.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had warned earlier that Moscow was preparing another “massive strike” on Kyiv. Residents sought shelter as explosions shook the city and Ukrainian air defences worked through the night.
Officials said Russian ballistic missiles struck multiple parts of Kyiv, damaging apartment complexes, with fires breaking out. There was visible widespread destruction, including partial collapses of large apartment blocks, and rescuers worked to reach people trapped in the rubble. Warehouses and a garage workshop were also reported damaged.
The strikes came on the eve of a NATO summit in Turkey, where Zelensky is expected to hold talks with President Donald Trump. Zelensky urged allies not to delay providing air-defence missiles, warning that shortages would cost lives and encourage continued attacks.
