8 ‘members’ of terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed arrested by Gujarat ATS

Gujarat’s Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has arrested eight people accused of being members of the Pakistan-based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), police said.

The operation was carried out across multiple regions, including districts in Gujarat such as Banaskantha, Patan and Navsari, as well as in Dewas, Madhya Pradesh. Officials said the accused were allegedly operating as a “sleeper module” and working to establish an active terror network in Gujarat to carry out future attacks.

According to officials, the group included two teenagers and others aged roughly between 18 and 40. Some of the arrests were linked to alleged use of religious/educational institutions as cover for radicalising and facilitating logistics.

After registering a case, all eight were sent to police custody for 14 days. The ATS said charges were filed under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) along with sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) relating to conspiracy and criminal conspiracy, among other offences.
